May-June 2002 – Mississippi River Flooding
May 21 – Preparations: Workers move construction equipment and materials from low ground to the concrete dock.
May 22 – Water begins to creep under the 1940 bridge and approaches, and onto the access road to the project offices.

May 23 – By the next afternoon, water was over the access roads and approaching the project office trailers.
May 28 – Team members travel around the flooded construction site by boat.
May 29 – The local media interviews resident engineer Gowen Dishman of HNTB on how the flooding is affecting work at the site.
June 3 – Chuck Faggard and Theresa Hunt of HNTB prepare for their morning commute to the project office trailer. The half-mile ride from a nearby levee takes about 10 minutes.
June 4 – Project team members arrive at the office trailer by boat. Water on the parking lot was approximately four feet high.
